Hear from a panel talking about how to manage when caring for someone who may resist help from you or others, when expectations don’t match reality, and when you need to set limits within caregiving.
SESSION 2 – September 26, 2026 – You Matter Too: An Interactive Self-Care Experience (in-person)

Learn and practice tools for self-care, including art, identifying coping strategies, and using assistive devices.

Let’s be honest — “take care of yourself” can feel like one more thing on an already impossible list.
When you’re managing medications, appointments, finances, and someone else’s daily wellbeing, your own needs quietly slide to the bottom. You skip meals, lose sleep, cancel your own doctor’s visits. It’s understandable. It’s also unsustainable.
Here’s the truth we don’t say enough: your wellbeing isn’t a luxury or a reward for finishing everything else. It’s the foundation that makes everything else possible. You can’t pour from an empty cup — and running on empty helps no one, least of all the person you’re caring for.
This session won’t just tell you to rest. It’s designed as an interactive experience — a chance to actually pause, breathe, and try simple practices you can carry home. We’ll explore small, realistic ways to protect your energy, recognize burnout before it flattens you, and reconnect with the things that make you you beyond the caregiver role.

The “Caregivers Count!” Conference is a FREE annual event designed for families and friends caring for their loved ones and features professional speakers covering a wide range of topics to support caregivers. The Conference is planned by a coalition of local nonprofit agencies and businesses interested in supporting family caregivers.
