Suzette Sherman is the founder and CEO of SevenPonds.com, an online magazine and resource hub transforming how society approaches death, dying, and grief. Drawing on years of research into cultural attitudes toward end-of-life care, she combines her background in design and environmental activism to promote education, compassion, and mindful planning around life’s final chapter. Her mission is to change how society views, thinks about, and approaches death through information, education, and design. Suzette is a respected voice in the movement for more open and conscious end-of-life conversations.

Suzette is a former board member of the Bay Area Funeral Consumers Association (a past chapter of the Funeral Consumers Alliance) and the Silicon Valley Chapter of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization. She also served as an advisor to “Let’s Have Dinner and Talk About Death” and completed a term on the State of California Cemetery and Funeral Bureau Advisory Committee. She has presented to end-of-life organizations, assisted and independent living facilities, and the general public on the wide range of options available when preparing for end-of-life. Suzette also consults with independent living facilities to help staff and residents plan for their end-of-life needs. Formerly a designer—and always a design thinker—Suzette is passionate about making conversations around death a natural part of life. As an environmental design activist, she received several grants from the National Endowment for the Arts for her research into ecological product design standards in collaboration with the Environmental Defense Fund in New York City. She was also a feature writer for the pioneering design-industry column Eco-Alert, which explored developments in ecological design for International Design magazine.
