From the artist’s statement:
“In December of 2006, my father was diagnosed with brain cancer. This series of paintings began while we fought this enemy. After the craniotomy, while he healed, I painted. You can see my techniques slowly grow and mature throughout the series. He fought for 3 years. Except for the singular painting of my parents resting place in North Carolina, all of the landscapes I painted are located here in beautiful Wisconsin. The direction I was facing, the name of the road and gps locations are in the title for those interested in a real journey through the true Wisconsin Farmscapes.”
Kari Radl’s work show, Wisconsin Farmscapes, A Retrospective, will be on display through February 2011 at The Firefly Coffee House Gallery in Oregon, Wisconsin.

My dad painted all through the years of his Parkinson’s disease. For the many years at the end he was really shaky, but it gave a new edge to his work – however out of control. It got him really excited to paint and gave him a purpose each day. Today when I look at his painting in my studio, it gives me the most unbelievable pleasure, each and every day. They are my sunshine!

These are beautiful! I love the bright colors and the peacefulness of the scenery.
